Sono nato nel 1958, a Roma, e ancora qui abito e lavoro. Mi sono formato nell’ambito della ricerca teatrale, nel filone della cosiddetta “nuova spettacolarità”, collaborando dal 1979 al 1983 con Benedetto ed Esmeralda Simonelli. Dopo l'esperienza teatrale e performativa mi sono dedicato prevalentemente alla fotografia e dal 2000 ho affiancato alla fotografia l'uso della videocamera. Nel mio lavoro, sin dalle prime esperienze, la scrittura ha quasi sempre accompagnato le immagini con testi brevi, poesie, “didascalie” talvolta scritte direttamente sull’immagine. Ma in questi ultimi anni la scrittura ha assunto un ruolo predominante. Ora, l’elemento narrativo sempre meno è utilizzato come commento alle immagini e sempre più ha un ruolo autonomo. Dopo la pubblicazione del libro: “Ecatombe – i girini della storia” (2008), scritto con Lorenzo Pavolini, sto lavorando  a quello che per pudore chiamo il mio “lavoro lungo”, che è poi un modo per non dire la parola “romanzo”. Ci vorrà del tempo ma se riuscirò a portarlo a termine, sento che sarà più chiaro, anche a me stesso, il senso di tutto quanto avrò fatto.
Ho esposto dal 1986 lavori miei, in Italia e all’estero, e ho curato mostre di fotografia per altri artisti.
In questi anni ho lavorato professionalmente con l'Associazione Fondo Alberto Moravia, il Teatro di Roma, la Fondazione Sigma-Tau, il Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
Dal 2008 sono docente di fotografia presso la John Cabot University (Roma).

I was born in 1958 in Rome, where I currently live and work. My artistic inspiration developed during my work in theatrical research with the so-called  “new spectacularity,” while collaborating with Benedetto and Esmeralda Simonelli from 1979 to 1983. After my experience with theatre and performance, I dedicated myself predominantly to photography. In 1989, I decided to proceed exclusively with my work in photography and in 2000 I added in the use of the videocamera. Since the beginning, I have almost always combined images with briefs texts, poems and comments, sometimes written directly on the images. In the past few years, writing has taken on the predominant role in my work. Now, the narrative element has become less a comentary for the images, and contains more and more an autonomous role. After the publication of the book: “Ecatombe – I girini della storia” (2008), written with Lorenzo Pavolini, I am working on what I call my “long work”, which is really only a way to avoid using the title “Romance novel”.  It will take time, but if I am able to finish it, I feel that the meaning of everything I will have done will become more clear.
Since 1986, I’ve displayed my own works, in Italy and abroad, and I’ve curated photography exhibitions for other artists and foundations.
In the past years, I’ve worked professionally with the Associazione Alberto Moravia, the Teatro di Roma, the Sigma-Tau Foundation, and the Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
Since 2008, I have worked as the professor of photography at John Cabot University (Rome).
